Afraid

What are you afraid of?
When I was counting my fingers
I could easily answer this question
I answered of insects, of darkness, of monsters
As I grew up my answers changed
When I was in my adolescent years
I answered my schools, my friends, my future
Now in my mature years
I would answer my life, my job, my parents
But what I have always been afraid of
Was a great unknown
Things I am uncertain how to face
Until then when someone asks me
What I am really afraid of?
I will answer
I am yet to discover
